FAQ for Parents

What will children need to bring to a holiday camp?

For all our holiday camps, a water bottle and packed lunch are required.

With all our camps we try to go outside as much as possible (dependant on weather) so clothing suitable for the weather conditions that day is advised. Boots are optional but recommended at the camps where grass is used. Shin pads are required; Sporting Steps reserves the right to refuse permission to participate for any child not wearing shin protection.

What food is supplied at the long-day holiday camps?

The food varies from day to day but follows these guidelines. A breakfast is supplied on arrival. This will usually consist of a breaded product with fruit and a fruit cordial drink. In the late afternoon, a small tea is provided which consists of fruit, crisps, a yoghurt and a sugary treat, along with a fruit cordial drink.

Medical information

Any medical conditions that a participant may have must be fully disclosed at the time of booking. We would also advise that you inform the lead coach on the day of the medical condition, also.

Does Sporting Steps accept child care vouchers?

Unfortunately we are not a registered child care facility, so cannot accept child care vouchers of any type.

Can 4 year olds attend?

Yes 4-year olds can attend some of our holiday camps. What we ask is that they have good balance and coordination and will be able to last a day of 6 hours. If you have any questions about this, please just call our office for guidance.

How do we get to the venue?

All our camp venues and directions can be found on our website under the Holiday Camp section.

Are there still places for the next Holiday Camp?

Some of our camps and courses do sell out very quickly. Our online facility stops taking bookings for courses and camps which are sold out. Sporting Steps recommends booking early to avoid disappointment.

Do you provide discounts for siblings?

We provide a 10% discount for siblings on all our holiday cams.

Can I drop off my child any earlier/pick up any later than stated on a holiday camp?

Children can arrive 15 minutes prior to the event starting and the maximum time without charge after an event is 15 minutes. Anything over this amount of time, if not agreed beforehand, will require an extra payment of 1 hour of the events time plus a £20 administration charge. If a child is picked up later than 45 minutes after an event’s finish time, a £50 charge will be incurred.

Can my child attend if he or she has disabilities?

Sporting Steps welcomes children with disabilities. However, we ask that you talk to a member of the Sporting Steps team prior to making a booking in order for him/her to discuss your child’s needs and also any terms and conditions relating to the safety of your child.


We accept all forms of card payment over the phone and online. Not all courses can be booked online due to the specific nature of some of their booking requirements. Please review each booking for options.

Can I pay on the day?

Payment on the day is accepted in certain circumstances. However, we recommend that you pay prior to the event as we cannot guarantee your child’s place if maximum numbers have already been reached.

Can I have a refund if my course was cancelled?

Yes, in the event that Sporting Steps has to cancel an event for any reason, a full refund will be issued to the person who booked. No written request is required.

What is the £1.50 booking fee?

Some bookings are subject to a £1.50 administration charge, which customers are notified of at the time of booking. This fee can also be applied to pay-on-the-day bookings at certain camps.
